PILOTS PAGE Hello Pilots, We want this page to be a place where you can find all of the information we have for flying to Mexico. Read the Pilot's policy and guidelines. Required reading, it will tell you how we work and what we expect of our pilots. Craig Albright has done some great writing with his Baja Flight Plan, tips on flying to Baja. If you go to his article on flying to non towered airport it will cover the two non towered dirt strips that we use most often. In this article you will find pictures of the Mulege runway and a close up of the runway that shows where we hold while waiting our turn for departure. There is also a great picture of the runway at Lopez Mateos We ask each of our pilots to sign a letter of acknowledgement and it needs to be witnessed and mailed in before going on a trip. The Pilot and aircraft form goes to the Pilot Coordinator, the weight that you put in the blank that asked how much weight you can take on a trip not counting yourself is the weight he will be working with. There may be times when he will call and ask if you can take another 30 or 60 pounds by leaving with less than full tanks. Don't cut your self short. In my Mooney I know that I don't need all 78 gallons on a normal Sams trip. I can leave 15 gallons out, still have over an hour reserve and gain another 90 pounds in useful load. We want all the pilots to stay in their comfort zone, if you are not comfortable, your passengers are not comfortable. No cowboys, no heroes'. If you have questions on the eAPIS filing you can give Dennis Gerlach a call(602-809-2209) and he can walk you through the process. You can call me (Don Downey 602-228-3995) with any questions and I look at my e-mail several times a day so that works well too. I AM READY TO GO, TAKE ME TO JOIN
